WOMEN IN SCIENCE
You already know that the Theory of Relativity was developed by Albert Einstein, that the first people to set foot on the Moon were 3 men, that penicillin was developed by Alexander Flemming and that the theory of gravity was developed by Isaac Newton. Wow ... how much created (by men). But what about the woman? What role does she play in science and in humanity's most creative inventions?
According to Unesco data, only 28% of the world's researchers are women. And even though this number is so low, some of the most important inventions of humanity, such as: wi-fi, beer, solar heating system, dishwasher, rice drainer, pedal trash, the game Monopoly, light signals, saw circular, liquid paper, ice cream machine were female productions. In addition to productions, women also left several studies that served as a basis for further research.
So that this number is not so unequal, encouraging scientific production by women, the UN created the International Day of Women and Girls in Science: 11th February.
We will now know 5 creations made by women.
1) Cars wouldn't be the same without creating a windshield wiper, would they? Yeah, but what you didn't realize is that it was created by a woman: Mary Anderson. She realized that tram drivers needed to stop from time to time to clear the snow that insisted on staying on the glass. Its creation was a squeegee attached to a rod, connected to a cable that, in order to function, it was enough for the driver to pull it inside. More ingenious impossible.
2) Wi-fi was the beginning of a secret communications system at the time of World War II. Its inventor? A woman: Hedy Lamarr who was also an actress.
3) For a doctor to be able to give an injection to a patient in the 19th century, the two arms of the doctor (and sometimes an assistant person) were needed. The problem was solved in 1899, when Letitia Geer invented the syringe we know today.
4) In 1882, thinking of possible accidents at sea, a woman, Maria Beasley, created the lifeboat. The survivors of the sinking Titanic owe a lot to this creation, no doubt!
5) And last but not least, the emergency exit. It seems more than obvious that places need one, but it wasn't until 1887, when Anna Connelly, proposed it.
Did you see? Man or woman, everyone has their importance. Science does not choose genres. Science chooses good thoughts for an increasingly developed society.

Você já sabe que a Teoria da Relatividade foi desenvolvida por Albert Einstein, que as primeiras pessoas a pisarem na Lua foram 3 homens, que a penicilina foi desenvolvida por Alexander Flemming e que a teoria da gravidade foi desenvolvida por Isaac Newton. Ufa... quanta coisa criada (por homens). Mas e a mulher? Qual o papel dela na ciência e nas mais criativas invenções da humanidade?
Segundo dados da Unesco, apenas 28% dos pesquisadores do mundo são mulheres. E mesmo esse número sendo tão baixo, algumas das mais importantes invenções da humanidade, como: wi-fi, cerveja, sistema de aquecimento solar, lava-louças, escorredor de arroz, lixeira de pedal, o jogo Banco Imobiliário, sinalizadores luminosos, serra circular, corretivo (o famoso branquinho), máquina de sorvete foram produções femininas. Além de produções, as mulheres deixaram também diversos estudos que serviram como base para pesquisas posteriores.
Para que esse número não seja tão desigual, incentivando a produção científica por mulheres, a ONU criou o Dia Internacional das Mulheres e Meninas na Ciência: 11 de fevereiro.
Vamos conhecer agora 5 criações feitas por mulheres.
1) Os carros não seriam os mesmos sem a criação do limpador de para-brisas, não é? Pois é, mas o que você não imaginava é que ele foi criado por uma mulher: Mary Anderson. Ela percebeu que os motoristas de bonde precisavam parar de tempo em tempo para limpar a neve que insistia em ficar no vidro. Sua criação foi um rodo preso a uma haste, ligados a um cabo que, para funcionar, bastava que o motorista o puxasse para dentro. Mais genial impossível.
2) O wi-fi era o princípio de um sistema secreto de comunicações na época da Segunda Guerra Mundial. Sua inventora? Uma mulher: Hedy Lamarr que também era atriz.
3) Para que um médico conseguisse aplicar uma injeção em um paciente no século XIX, eram necessários os dois braços do médico (e, às vezes, uma pessoa assistente). O problema foi resolvido em 1899, quando Letitia Geer inventou a seringa que conhecemos hoje.
4) Em 1882, pensando em possíveis acidentes em alto-mar, uma mulher, Maria Beasley, criou o bote salva-vidas. Os sobreviventes do naufrágio do Titanic devem muito a essa criação, sem dúvidas!
5) E por último, mas não menos importante, a saída de emergência. Parece mais do que óbvio que os locais precisem de uma dessa, mas não era assim até 1887, quando Anna Connelly, a propôs.
Viram só? Homem ou mulher, todos têm sua importância. Ciência não escolhe gêneros. Ciência escolhe bons pensamentos para uma sociedade cada vez mais desenvolvida.
